What a difference!
25/11/2009 - 30/12/2010

In late July 09 we started supporting Shaemus Hussain with his English and Maths learning and over the summer we saw his interest in the subjects grow. And, since the start of the autumn term we noticed big smiles and lots of energy along with a confident air of enthusiasm. So we asked Shaemus how he felt he was doing....

“I am very pleased as I have moved from being bottom of the class to top of class in Maths just through the summer holidays.

Before the summer hols I was bottom and after I was top!  My teacher was so surprised.

This gives me the ambition to take the higher paper.”

What a delight! We knew Shaemus was working well and his confidence was growing so this feedback was a fantastic bonus. Shamus’s father was equally delighted and said,

“I am very pleased, this is money well spent!

When we heard he had become first in foundation level Maths at his school we were very impressed.

He is going the right way – out of foundation onto the higher paper.

We are hoping the other two children go the same way!

Background - Shaemus and his younger brother and sister started the Kip McGrath Summer programme in July 2009. Shaemus came for 2 sessions of maths a week and one of English. He is continuing with these sessions in year 10 to give him a chance to get at least a grade C in GCSE.
